Candidate will be part of a team that provides Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) support to laboratory R&D operations.
Provide logistics support for the receipt and/or shipping of samples, analytical references materials, equipment, lab supplies and compressed gasses (requires competency with internal shipping applications and procedures)
Monthly safety surveys (enter safety surveys into database, track survey data, and make sure findings are closed out in a timely manner)
Initiate, follow up, and complete incident documentation of all incidents/injuries within a timely manner; complete WIMS investigations, identify root cause(s), and document measures taken to prevent reoccurrence; provide updates to management regarding causal analysis and corrective actions
Hazard Review documentation (including pre- and post- work) and identify processes within a division/area that will need a Hazard Review
Understand and follow waste storage and handling procedures; generate, update, or inactivate
Air and Noise Monitoring and reporting
Lab commissioning support (to include lab EHS readiness, equipment start up, pre-start up safety reviews, technical support for lab moves, and lab exiting for vacated areas)
Monitor and maintain inventories of routine lab supplies and compressed gasses; Place and monitor replenishment orders to maintain a consistent quantity of critical inventory items
Check temperature monitoring system and respond to system alarms
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or Chemistry
Ability to identify improvement opportunities, develop plans to close gaps, garner management support for key initiatives, and track improvement initiatives to closure
Risk analysis skills - capable of hazard and risk identification, assessment, and controls; communicate risks and methods to reduce risk
Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and prioritize work effectively
