Assistant Service Center Manager

Support and develop ESC client base in the service territory by providing superior analytical and collection services to municipal, industrial, and consulting clients. This includes supporting ESC’s commitment of ethical integrity and safety within our organization and ensuring that each employee understands and upholds ESC’s ethics and safety programs.


  • Pick-up/deliver customer sample kits and supplies or oversee courier work for branch
  • Arrange for backup in the event of absences from work
  • Supervise Contract Couriers assigned to branch
  • Supervise or perform on-site sample collection in the field for ESC clients - This may include:
    • Conducting sampling events for industrial and municipal clients according to local, state, and/or EPA protocol
    • Established schedule
    • Transporting and installing all necessary sampling equipment
    • Ensuring proper collecting, dispensing, preserving and record keeping for field samples
  • Oversee maintenance of all field equipment in working order including proper equipment cleanup and storage
  • Support new business, obtain orders, and provide services to existing clients by planning and organizing a daily work schedule to call on existing and potential clients
  • Assist clients with service related issues
  • Refer to appropriate ESC staff and follow up to ensure service need is met
  • Maintain open and positive lines of communication using telephone and email between Service Center Managers, Project Managers, Sales, and IT
  • Generate and submit (via email) “weekly reports” to Regional Service Center Managers each week
  • Have all preventative maintenance performed on the vehicle as needed. All expenses need approval from supervisor
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies; completing in house training
  • After educational event document training or new information gained through a written report sent to supervisor
  • Perform other duties as requested by supervisor


  • Computer skills (sales database software, spreadsheet, and word processing software)
  • Good written and verbal skills, good human- relations skills
  • Sample collection (40 Hour OSHA Training) and environmental science experience desired
  • Basic understanding of environmental business and role of environmental analyses in serving market is required
  • Must be a good organizer and self-starter and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Must have previous experience in Branch Operations and proven capability to operate branch services for extended periods (weeks) without supervision
  • Sales experience and courier experience is required
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record required
  • Ability to work in excess of scheduled hours, some overnight travel may be required
