Administrator - Business Development

This position supports the business development of Pace Analytical with a diverse range of responsibility. Ideal candidates enjoy variety in daily routines with the ability to help in any of several roles.


  • Receiving and routing telephone inquiries
  • Front-desk reception for welcoming guests
  • Act as host during client and regulatory visits
  • Ensure clients are welcomed and escorted to conference rooms
  • Coordinate refreshments and personal needs of visitors
  • Coordinate lunches for visitors
  • Use of a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) database, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel to assist in the process of drafting of business proposals and contracts
  • Front office support
  • Manage files and contractual documents
  • Other aspects of business development and marketing to include coordination of certain marketing activities
  • Plan events like client training sessions
  • Order catering and make sure food and refreshments are appropriate
  • Assist senior level staff (about 3 or 4 people) with travel arrangements and other projects
  • Assist in preparation of quotes and proposals using databases, MS Word, and MS Excel.
  • Maintain the central information repository for all quoting activities
  • Communicate with external sales staff and internal technical staff in order to expedite the creation of quotes/proposals
  • Maintain the quote log to assure that all quoting activities are documents, and that the quote log is updated routinely
  • Ability to read and interpret various technical documents, with support of PLS technical staff
  • Proficiency in the LIMS database, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel
  • Good organizational skills

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Ability to manage multiple and changing priorities


  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ideal candidate has some post-secondary education in chemistry, microbiology, or a related science and/or has worked in laboratory or scientific environment for several years
  • Looking to take on a more flexible, administrative type role outside of the laboratory
  • Ability speak and converse fluently in the English language
  • Ability to read, with comprehension, a variety of written documents, to include business and technical documents
  • Ability to write, with appropriate grammar and vocabulary, reports and business correspondence
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries from sales and laboratory staff in regards to pricing and quoting
  • Ability to apply mathematical operations to activities associated with the quote and bidding process
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
  • Ability to apply principals of logical, business, or scientific rationale to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems as related to the quoting process
  • Ability to deal with non-verbal symbolism, formulas, scientific equations, and graphs
  • Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variable
