The Physical Testing Technician will work in the Physical Testing (PT) lab, as well as participate as part of the structure-function team. The PT lab provides support for all platforms and technical teams in several key areas including: rheology, texture, particle size, and thermal characterization. The PT Technician will be accountable to support the lab’s team leader who will set daily work schedules and cross-train as needed within the broader structure-function team.


  • Running routine PT testing on samples submitted by various clients
  • Facilitating analytical testing for R&D
  • Actively communicate with customers regarding business critical sample test results, resolution of questionable data, and facilitation of special requests as needed
  • Provide support and flexibility related to the analysis of samples
  • Documenting results and reviewing data
  • Investigating any technical discrepancies on a timely basis
  • Developing a strong knowledge of the analytical methods being used to analyze samples
  • Working safely at all times
  • Train other personnel as needed


  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Physics
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks effectively
  • Works well with individuals and teams; displays a positive attitude
  • Great customer services skills
  • 1-2 years’ experience in analytical labs with an emphasis on the use of physical testing equipment preferred
  • Knowledge of laboratory quality systems, statistics, and document control
  • Ability to learn and perform multiple analytical methods and calculations for various tests
  • Demonstrated ability to work and communicate with people from technical, operational, and other backgrounds
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills (customer reports) and PC skills (proficient with Word and Excel)
