Overview

Directly responsible for ensuring the overall quality performance of multiple (two or more) laboratories or service centers. This includes successfully facilitating the total quality program efforts and may include multiple quality systems within the same facility.

 

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM

Responsibilities

  • Oversee overall quality management system for the region, providing guidance to each laboratory's quality manager and/or quality analysts
  • Providing oversight for Quality systems in multiple laboratories and/or service centers where there is not a local Quality Manager or for labs with multiple and distinctly separate quality systems within the same facility
  • Document Management and Distribution- responsible for creating, revising, tracking, distributing and archiving all quality documents (including Standard Operating Procedures)
  • Internal Audits- responsible for planning, scheduling, organizing and conducting annual internal audits and compiling audit reports that include findings and corrective actions
  • Lab Certifications- responsible for applying for and maintaining the lab certifications (including dealing with suspensions) required to cover the scope of work performed by the lab
  • Proficiency Testing Studies- responsible for managing the Proficiency Testing program for the lab including ordering, tracking and reporting of results to the PT provider
  • Training File Maintenance- responsible for tracking and organizing the training items for all lab employees, including Demonstrations of Capability. This requires knowledge of the Learning Management System (LMS)
  • MDL Management- responsible for scheduling, tracking, and evaluating MDL studies for the lab
  • External Audits- responsible for preparing the lab for external audits, hosting the external auditing body and managing external audit reports and findings and the subsequent corrective actions
  • Quality Manual Revision Process- responsible for maintaining the currency of the Quality Manual
  • Metrology- responsible for maintenance and monitoring of support equipment to meet method or contract requirements
  • Data Review- serves as the focal point for QA/QC and is responsible for the oversight and/or review of quality control data
  • Responding to QAPPs, Bids, and RFP Requests- responsible for compiling QA/QC information for sales and client services in response to client requests
  • LIMS Maintenance- responsible for the maintenance of quality control data and the generation of quality control limits
  • Corrective Action Monitoring- responsible for root cause determination and tracking and monitoring the implementation of corrective actions
  • Quarterly Reports- responsible for compiling and distributing Quarterly Quality Reports to the corporate quality office
  • Promoting cooperation and teamwork among staff
  • Following Pace policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • BS/BA in chemistry or related science
  • Broad knowledge of laboratory program activities; minimum of eight years total experience with three to five years experience in the environmental services industry
  • Experience in quality management of a TNI accredited laboratory
  • DOD and ISO 17025 accreditation experience a plus
  • Worked closely with operations regarding the interpretation and implementation of the quality management system
  • Liaison between local operations and corporate quality team
  • Ability to travel (required)
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management
  • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems
  • Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases
  • Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables
