Overview

Cross-functional analytical scientist with a BS/BA degree in Chemistry or related science with experience in microscopy and sample preparation for microscopy. A candidate for this position should be familiar with Optical microscopy and have a good understanding of materials characterization using microscopy.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare samples using a variety of techniques
  • Image samples clearly and consistently
  • Characterize samples through observation and measurement
  • Use Excel to compile results

Qualifications

  • Basic required skills include:
    • Micromanipulation
    • Clean preparation methods
    • Attention to detail
  • Additional techniques used to characterize materials are:
    • Digital and Stereo Microscopy
    • Optical Interferometry
    • Surface Profilometry and Ellipsometry
  • Preparation techniques include, but are not limited to:
    • Metallograph
    • Mechanical polishing
    • Diamond saw, and microtomy
  • BS/BA degree in Chemistry, Biology, Material Science, or related science or equivalent relevant experience
  • Microscopy experience and familiarity with one or more of the techniques listed
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively
  • Time management skills and a high level of independence after the training phase
  • Good organizational skills, record keeping, and follow through will be integral to success
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and by email
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • US Person status required
