Primary responsibility for the Pilot Plant Technician is to operate pilot equipment to create food or non-food grade quality samples in a safe, timely and professional manner. The technician is responsible to ensure the pilot plant remains operational and safe.


The candidate must be able to work nights. Typical hours will be 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM during the work week. They will be working 12 hour days, 4 days a week, either on nights or days.



  • Work independently and as part of a team developing, planning, and executing day-to-day equipment operations and maintenance as established in Standard Operating Procedure
  • Provide process and sample data to sample owners in timely fashion
  • Keep clear and concise record of pilot plant operations
  • Work safely around moving equipment and chemicals 
  • Use analytical equipment (pH meters, conductivity probe, UV-VIS, HPLC)


  • Technical or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, or related field 
  • Some background in chemistry desired
  • Hands-on processing experience running equipment and analytical methods preferred
  • Good mechanical and electrical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  • Interest and desire to interpret data and optimize the process
