Material Scientist - AFM Analyst

 

This cross-functional candidate will use microtome to prepare samples for analysis; analyze and interpret results using AFM and other techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare samples through use of microtomy- cut faces or thin sections using an ultramicrotome
  • Analyze samples using AFM- a variety of instruments from standard to fast scan and larger sample areas
  • Characterize samples, interpret results, and share findings with senior chemists/engineers
  • Prepare and analyze samples using nanoindentation
  • Train other chemists on instrumentation and techniques after learning period is complete

Qualifications

  • Experience with microtomy and nanoidentation
  • Familiarity with AFM
  • AAS or BS in Nanoscience, Chemistry, Materials Science, or related field with experience in AFM through research or industry
  • Time management skills and a high level of independence after the training phase
  • Good organizational skills, record keeping, and follow through will be integral to success
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and by email
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • US Person status required
